  • "The idea of buying a place of my own was so intimidating to me.. I had no idea where to start or who to use or what to look for and wanted to make sure I understood it all before making such a big decision. I actually tried a different realtor first but felt she wasn’t taking me seriously enough to show me around. I came across Matt after 2 of my friends recommended him. I don’t trust people often, especially if I feel like they’re salesmen. But I gotta say, Matt was not like that. He is a solid, “good people,” everyday kind of guy doing great work.   • "I first met Matt Hilliard back in the spring of 2007. I had recently moved from San Diego, and I remember the day I met Matt well, mainly because that same day a police officer screamed at me, asking if I understood the english language, before the sun was even fully up. I wish I had a more memorable story about that day that actually involved Matt, but memory is a fickle thing, and much like the many grains of sand dotting the beach, mine has been washed out to sea, never to return. Fast forward to 2021. The world is in the grip of a global pandemic. I’m paying an exorbitant fee for the “privilege” of renting out a shack in Playa Del Rey, at quiet town not too far from the Pacific Ocean. On top of that, I was paying even more money to send my beautiful angel children to preschool, while my wife and I worked to be able to afford the aforementioned shack and childcare. Things were looking bleak. I had always wanted to buy a home, but I thought that was something that only happened in the movies. I accepted that I was to be a lifelong “rental rat”, as my landlord at the time called me. That’s when Matthew Hilliard popped back into my life. Matt told me he was into this thing called “real estate”, and that he could help me find the home of my dreams. So I told him what I was looking for (mainly a 3 bedroom house in Long Beach, a less quiet town not too far from the Pacific Ocean) and he was off to the races, searching the MLS for my dream home like a pig searching for truffles. Now, you should know that Matt lives in Norco, a quiet little horse town that’s quite a hike from the Pacific Ocean. He would get in his big ol’ Mercury Grand Marquis, which probably tops out at 11 mpg, and make the long, arduous commute to Long Beach, where he would show my wife and I a potential house. I’d inevitably find some minor thing to dismiss the house completely (these doorknobs are terrible!), and he’d get back into his boat-car and drive back home. He did this multiple times a week without complaint, and always with that trademark, room-brightening Matt Hilliard smile on his face. A short time later Mr Matt (as my 5 year old calls him) did indeed find us a dream home, and I’m currently writing this while in my dream living room. I couldn’t have done it without Matt, and his attention to detail and patience throughout the whole long, antiquated process of purchasing a home. I highly recommend him and the rest of the Navigate Real Estate crew (shout out to Chenine!), and when you talk to Matt, be sure to tell him Trevor says hello!"
